Celebrity describes experience with TMJ therapy
Singer LeAnn Rimes has opened up about her experience undergoing TMJ therapy. Rimes, who has sold more than 43 million records worldwide, discussed her treatment in a recent deep jaw release video that went viral.
Sharing footage of the procedure, which was intended to relieve pressure in her jaw, Rimes described her sense of relief. In a previous video, she had opened up about her personal struggles with fascia tension. As a performer, the topic is an emotional one, because the tightness impacts her ability to breathe and express herself while singing. Following TMJ therapy, she said she felt a degree of freedom she hadn’t had in a long time.
TMJ therapy refers to the non-surgical treatment of temporomandibular joint disorders, which can range widely in terms of their seriousness. These occur when joints between the lower jaw and skull come under pressure. Causes might include a poor diet, stress or teeth grinding in sleep, known professionally as bruxism.
In minor instances, people are advised to apply gentle exercises to reduce pain and improve functionality. For example, for some, it can be a good idea to eat soft food, avoid chewing gum or take an ibuprofen if necessary. In more serious cases, those suffering should seek professional intervention. During this procedure, the body’s fascia, or connective tissue, is manipulated and realigned in order to release tension. This is known as the deep jaw release technique.
