Why Might There Not Be Enough Bone?

What Is a Sinus Lift?

After healing, this bone graft material provides a stronger base for implants – but don’t just assume you’ll need a sinus lift because there’s been bone loss.
Are There Alternatives to a Sinus Lift?
In some cases, your dentist could decide on a shorter implant, where there’s more bone available. You may have an option to modify the placement of the implant or treat it with a bone graft.
Sometimes, an implant can be placed without the need of a bone graft. Alternatively, a sinus lift or another bone graft procedure might be a safer choice.
A comprehensive evaluation is required before reaching a decision. Your dentist may need a dental x-ray, like 3D CBCT scan, to visualize the available bone and relevant structures such as the sinus.
